The Crop Circle

The Paperclipping Community of Scrapbookers

August is here already, and i am wondering if the summer is zooming by as fast for you as it is for me! We know that many of you are enjoying the great outdoors, or having fun on vacation, but maybe you are still having crafty urges and want to spend some time making a scrapbook layout or three for this months challenge!

Remember your layout / project only needs to fall into one of these categories (but can of course fall into multiple if you wish), and it is best if you talk us through some of your creative choices. This way we get to see how you have used your design skills to create your own personal masterpiece. This helps all our other members learn from your expertise, and will also help you understand more about the way you scrapbook - which of course helps with your future projects.

Challenge 1

In this post Noell talks about scrapbooking the outdoors, so for this challenge we want to see how you scrap your green photos! Why not take inspiration from Noell's six fantastic tips on how to achieve great results!

Challenge 2

Noell talks about finding a new topic to use in her scrapbooking - clothes, and she even shares a video of a mini book which focuses on her daughters dancing. For this challenge we want to see you focus on the topic of clothes. Perhaps your favourite item of clothing, a shopping obsession, a closet item you remember from the past, a fashion faux-pas, or how your style as changed.

Challenge 3

Its mid summer, and that means school is out, families having fun together and maybe even a little bit of sunshine. So for this challenge we want to see your summer layouts. Be sure to check out Noell's post for lots of tips and inspiration that is sure to get the creative juices flowing.

{This layout is focuses on a family gathering earlier this summer.  It is tradition to have a summer BBQ when the whole family is together..unfortunately as they live in northern ireland, we aren't always guaranteed sunny weather. You can see a video of me putting the layout together by visiting my blog http://hungryheffycrafts.com }

Challenge 4

Every now and again its nice to stop and reflect, and sometimes you can be surprised by how much things have changed. Having a new baby in the house means that i am constantly surprised by how much one little person can change in such a short time. In this post, Noell shares a beautiful layout about Trinity entitled 'Right Now, You', for this challenge we want to see a layout which is a snapshot of time, perhaps about a particular person or about your family.

{I decided to make a layout about my first month as a mummy, breaking it up into four weeks. This layout is a snapshot of my life during the first week of my daughters life, and how we both adjusted to this new life together. The other three layouts can be seen at http://hungryheffycrafts.com }

We can't wait to see your entries.

Post your creations here (by replying to this discussion) before midnight (pacific time) August 31st.. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and don't forget that you can enter up to three projects into the challenge!  The winner will be featured on the Paperclipping Blog in August and on My blog & Crafty Suz's blog..

Post your layouts to this thread using the photo attachment at the top instead of the attach file buttons below your comment box.  It makes it easier for everyone to see your work without clicking on links

If you have any questions, Kristyn, Suz and myself would love to hear from you, (You will have to add us as a friend to chat with us in this forum) and if you are new there is a rules thread you can look here.

Ok, I'll be brave and go first! It's not about the outdoors but it's using green. I'd never really thought about green  (or the lack thereof) in my scrapping because I'm not really drawn to creating with this colour. But when Noell wrote about it, I started thinking.... And I created this page:

I really wanted to find a green that worked with my friend's sweater. Greens and browns are her favourite colours so I liked the idea of using the challenge to create something that caught her, while capturing the story of our friendship.

It's fun shaking things up and trying something new. This color really works with the photos so getting outside your comfort zone was a success making a great layout. I really like the random gathering of photos and journaling. Thanks so much for joining us this month
Those flowers are awesome! They look cool layered like that. Are they a stamp?

I just happened to see the post about the monthly challenge and so I thought I would play along. I did a layout about the experience I had hiking up to Secret Lake with my kids and my father. From the time I could remember my father would take me and my brother hiking. One of my favorites was to go to Secret Lake and hear the story about the Secret Bear. It was a story my father made up about this bear that lived near the lake and would try to scare the visitors by throwing rocks into the lake. No one has ever seen the bear, he would tell us !! So for me to take my own kids up there and to have my father tell my kids all about the secret bear was really special.

I like how you used that round piece as a backdrop for your title. I have that and hadn't thought to use it that way. The whole title piece  with all its details is really nice!
Both of these layouts are great, Lesley! So inspiring! And the baby pics are so so sweet!! I'm so glad you shared them!!!
